APAC PROGRAM RETURNING TO FOREST HILL NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

Forest Hill High School will offer APAC academic courses in 2017-18 school year.

In 2017-18, JPS will offer the APAC program at Forest Hill High School.

Interested parents and students will complete a program interest form. School administrators will determine these students' eligibility by reviewing their:

  • End-of-year course averages.
  • STAR reading and math assessment results.
  • State assessment results.

Qualifying students will be able to select APAC academic courses at onsite registration. Registration begins this summer on July 11.

Teachers will begin Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement training in July. Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi will host these sessions.

Research shows that students who take rigorous courses have improved academic outcomes. They earn higher grades. They graduate high school and complete college at higher rates. This expansion seeks to offer more challenging academics throughout the District. Reaching this goal will ensure fair access and learning opportunities for students.

APAC arts courses will not be offered at Forest Hill in the upcoming school year. This will give the District time to conduct an adequate feasibility study for the arts program.
