Testing to Begin

Parent and student reading together Power APAC Elementary Academic Testing will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. at Power APAC, located at 1120 Riverside Drive.

Power APAC will hold Elementary Arts Auditions at the school on Saturday, February 20 from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. See the audition requirements below.


DANCE: (Ballet, Modern, Jazz) Wear leotards, tights, and ballets shoes or tank top, biking shorts, and socks. Do not prepare a memorized dance. If accepted, the student will buy dance attire and be required to wear hair in a classical bun.

MUSIC: (Piano, Instrumental, Vocal)—Bring your own music.

Piano—Two contrasting pieces. (Piano is provided.)

Instrumental—Two pieces and one scale. Instruments accepted are flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, violin, viola, cello, string bass. (Bring your own instrument.)

Vocal—Memorize two of the following selections to sing: "Amazing Grace," "My Country ‘Tis of Thee," a classical or musical theatre song.

THEATRE ARTS (Acting): Show that you can play a character other than yourself by performing a fairy tale, folk tale or monologue, one to two minutes long. (No poems, speeches, or original works.) Also, prepare a show tune or song with a simple recognizable melody such as "My Country ‘Tis of Thee."

VISUAL ARTS: Bring 10 examples of current artwork. Bring drawings using pencil, watercolor, crayons, cut paper designs, collages, sculpture with cardboard or clay, etc. Do not bring cartoons. Draw from nature and the world around you. Auditioning includes drawing in the classroom, paragraph writing, and a brief interview.

These testing and audition dates apply to students entering Power APAC in grades 4 and 5 in the 2016-2017 school year.
