JPS Promoting COVID-19 Vaccinations for High School Students and Staff

August 12, 2021

As Jackson Public Schools continues to push for a safe return to school, it is promoting COVID-19 vaccinations for all who are eligible. Additionally, the District has made vaccinations one of two ways scholars can participate in athletics. Scholar-athletes must take the shot to participate in sports and other team or group activities. Otherwise, they must submit to weekly testing throughout the season. The vaccine is easy to obtain and widely available at pharmacies, pediatricians' offices, and county health offices. It is always free.

Watch as JPS Athletics Executive Director Daryl Jones and Lead Nurse Mallory Jones discuss the benefits of vaccination.

Additionally, the District has partnered with TrustCare Health to organize a Back-To-School COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at our seven high schools. We are urging all high school students and staff to take the vaccine. During the first week of school, high school students and employees have the opportunity to take the vaccine at their school through a partnership with TrustCare Health. There is still time for students and employees to register for a TrustCare vaccination appointment. Students must have parental consent which can be completed during the registration process.
