Jim Hill High School Cheerleaders Win in National Competition

Jim Hill High School Cheerleaders Win in National Competition During Spring Break, the Jim Hill High School competition squad competed in the Powerhouse Spirit National Stomp and Shake Cheerleading Championships at Virginia State University. This competition is an annual event that brings together high schools from around the country to showcase their skills across several categories. The Jim Hill competition squad competed in the following five categories on Saturday, March 20:

  • Solo
  • Stunt Group (Third Place)
  • Timeout Dance
  • Full Routine (First Place, High School)
  • Blackout Routine (First Place)

The Jim Hill cheerleaders earned two first-place awards—for High School Varsity Full Routine and Blackout Routine. They posted one of the highest score totals of any Blackout Routine in the category’s history. Additionally, the squad won third place in the Stunt Group category.

Tamika Harris is the team's head coach, and Amadi Lawrence, a former Jim Hill cheerleader, serves as the assistant coach.

"As a coach and a guidance counselor, it is always my goal to expose our youth to new opportunities and experiences," said Harris. "Being able to compete and win a national championship in the midst of a global pandemic has shown my team that, with hard work and dedication, you can succeed in spite of your circumstances."

The Jim Hill High School Nationals Team:

  • Seniors: OrMyiae Bogan, Sha’Niyah Moore, Roniah Russell, & Zakeya Thompson
  • Juniors: Jada Cavett, Ashiya Howard, Alexis Reed, Hailey Samuel, & Mckinley Washington
  • Sophomores: Jy’Keciona Bibbs, Kaitlyn Jacobs, Jamiya Norals, Terri Powell, & Ethan Wells
  • Freshmen: Jayla Dunn, Ro’Melody Elbert, & Jamia Knox
