September 6, 2021
Sophie Agostinelli | Mya McGowan | Cedravious Davis |
Jackson Public Schools had three talented students to place in the Mississippi Bar's 2021 Law Day Art Contest. The 2021 art contest theme, "Advancing the Rule of Law, Now," reminds all of us that we the people share the responsibility to promote the rule of law, defend liberty, and pursue justice. The aim of the annual contest is to educate the participants and the public about the rule of law as a set of principles for ensuring an orderly and just society.
The three winners from Jackson Public Schools are:
- Sophie Agostinelli, McWillie Elementary, Kindergarten, 1st Place (Statewide)
- Mya McGowan, Cardozo Middle, Grade 8, 1st Place (Grade Level)
- Cedravious Davis, Jim Hill High, Grade 11, 1st Place (Grade Level)
First through third-place awards were presented to winners at each school. First-place winners were judged for the statewide award. Sophie Agostinelli of McWillie was the District's only statewide winner. Additionally, we had two grade-level winners, Mya McGowan of Cardozo Middle and Cedravious Davis of Jim Hill. Each winner was presented a certificate in recognition of their creative achievement as participants in the 2021 Law Day Art Contest.
