2024 MS Educators Rising Competition
March 6, 2024.
Twelve of our Jackson Middle College scholars represented our Career Development Center in the 2024 MS Educators Rising Competition. The event was held February 22-23, 2024, at Mississippi College. This was our first year attending and competing, and all our scholars placed.
Here are the outstanding results:
Kristen Rhodes, First Place Winner, competed in the Educators Rising Moment Speech Competition.
The purpose of the Educators Rising Moment Competition is to provide students at the Educators Rising Conference opportunities to articulate why they aim to pursue a career in education.
La'Ziyah Walker, Second Place Winner, competed in the Creative Lecture TedTalk Competition
The Creative Lecture Competition will offer ambitious, fearless, bold-thinking students a platform for sharing their ideas in a format that has been embraced by intellectual society. The topic for the 2024 Creative Lecture Competition is TEACHER SALARIES.
Karmen Hobson, Chloey Day, and Khadarius Johnson, Fourth Place Winners, competed in the Researching Learning Challenges Competition
This competition offers Educators Rising students the opportunity to explore deeply and to develop recommendations regarding effective educational supports for students with special needs. This year’s competition focuses on the specific learning disability called Dyscalculia.
Asiah Scott, Tamiyah Jacobs, Alicia Tolliver, and Mya Nelson, Seventh Place Winners, competed in the Ethical Dilemma Competition
In this competition, the Educators Rising school program must debate an ethical education-related dilemma. This competition requires students to think deeply about an ethical issue, employ critical-thinking skills, and use persuasive communication techniques to collaboratively debate an ethical dilemma.
Giovanni DeVeres and Christiana Stringfellow, Seventh Place Winners, competed in the Children's Literature Pre-K Competition
The book may be written and illustrated by one individual (the author/illustrator) or two individuals (an author and an illustrator).
Emmariana Williams competed in the Children's Literature K-3 Competition.
Please help me celebrate these AMAZING Future Teachers! Kristen is heading to Nationals in June in Washington, D.C.!
