Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene and the JPS Board of Trustees honored Board Secretary Dr. Robert Luckett at the Board of Trustees meeting on May 16. Dr. Luckett announced that his term would soon be ending as a Board member. It was a bittersweet moment as all Board members and Dr. Greene praised his service to the Jackson Public School District and presented him with a well-deserved award.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you. You showed us who you were every day. There was never any question as to why you supported or opposed something. It always came from a place of values and equity,” said Board President Dr. Ed Sivak. “You always showed up when it was hard, not just convenient.”
“Thank you for all that you have contributed in so many ways, big and small, and always thinking of our scholars for projects and opportunities,” said Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene. “I appreciate you and all you have given to Jackson Public Schools.”
In 2017, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba appointed Dr. Luckett to the Board of Trustees of Jackson Public Schools. Because of his work in racial equity, Dr. Luckett was named a Kellogg Foundation Fellow.
Dr. Luckett’s term will expire on June 1, 2023.
