May 18, 2023

Jackson Public Schools Lead Counselor LeSian Davis

Congratulations to JPS Lead Counselor Dr. LeSian C. Davis on being selected to serve as a newly-elected board member of the Magnolia State School Counselor Association.

“I was selected by my fellow colleagues who serve as counselors throughout our great state,” said Dr. Davis. “Because of their endorsement, I can now serve a greater audience by advocating for the first responders who continue to provide relevant, equitable, and effective life-changing acts to make improvements for communities of learners, parents, and schools. I’m extremely humbled and grateful to serve on the board with such distinguished leaders.”

Dr. LeSian C. Davis has served as the director of counselors for Jackson Public Schools for 5 years and has served in education for over 22 years, with 18 years as a school counselor.

Dr. Davis started her educational career as a teacher at Clausell, then later at Lester Elementary. She advocates for all stakeholders, but professional school counselors have a special place in her heart. Her primary goal is to ensure all scholars are successful in meeting their social-emotional needs. She is also instrumental in ensuring scholars align with the Profile of a JPS Graduate.

Dr. Davis has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Jackson State University, a master’s degree in professional school counseling from Jackson State University, and a Ph.D. in education leadership from Jackson State University. She is a member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and the Magnolia School Counseling Association (MSCA).
