Jackson Public Schools held its PL5 (Performance Level 5) Awards on Monday, October 31 at Forest Hill High School. The District recognized 315 scholars that scored advanced on their state assessments during the 2021-2022 school year.

After the awards ceremony, scholars traveled to the JPS Environmental Learning Center for a day of fun that included games, food, music, and other activities.

“Despite all of the issues we experienced with COVID and water, these students endured and came out on top. They continued to study, to perform in the classroom, and to show up every day with their best selves and we are so proud of each and every one of them and we wanted to recognize them,” said Assistant Superintendent of High Schools Laketia Marshall-Thomas. “This impacts JPS because our ratings are based on proficiency and advancement. As we continue to push our students to perform on the state assessments, it also improves our accountability rating.”
