Jackson Public Schools held graduation ceremonies for the class of 2022 on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, and Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Mississippi Coliseum. Thousands of family members and friends gathered to celebrate their graduating senior(s) and their accomplishments. Here are a few key highlights of the class of 2022:

  • 1,397 total graduates
  • 84.6% graduation rate (increased 7.4% from last year, increased 20.6% increase over last 5 years)
  • 12.7% dropout rate (decreased 27.4% from last year, decreased 21.3% over last 7 years)
  • Received over $60 million in scholarships

Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene delivered an address that focused on how the class persevered through a global pandemic, each school’s individual success stories, and offered advice for life after graduation. “I strongly encourage you to make a plan. It doesn’t matter if the plan changes. The sheer fact that you set a goal, a pathway forward, and you make it public so that others can hold you accountable, will help you propel yourself forward,” he said. Dr. Greene continued by encouraging graduates to see the world and to brace for hard times. “Do not let the hard times be the sum total of the story of your life.”

The entire JPS family wishes each graduate the best in their future endeavors!
