Jackson Public Schools Opens New South Jackson Football Field

Jackson Public Schools hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, September 7 to showcase the completion of the South Jackson Football Field. JPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Freddrick Murray and School Board members were among the ribbon cutters. Principal Torrey Hampton, students and supporters of Forest Hill High School also took part in the program.

"We are committed to creating world-class facilities for our students both on the academic side and the athletic side," said Dr. Murray. "This is just one step in making sure that happens."

Project features include artificial turf, a field logo, field markings, and a retaining wall. The project was financed through a limited tax note totaling $827,000. William McElroy of M3A Architecture, LLC, designed the field. Mike Harrell of Probity Contracting Group, LLC, provided construction materials and labor. James Bateman of Environmental Turf Services, LLC, installed the turf.

South Jackson Field will be the home field for Forest Hill and Wingfield high schools. The field is located on the Forest Hill campus.
