Mississippi Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Recognizes Three JPS Educators

The Mississippi Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE) recognized three JPS employees at their Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony held this summer. The 2017-2018 honorees from JPS are Charles Moore, Dr. LaQuanta Nelson, and Dr. Lorenda Cheeks.

Mr. Moore is a teacher at Forest Hill High School. He was recognized as an Outstanding Educator by Jackson State University. Dr. Nelson is in her second year as principal at Blackburn Middle School. She was recognized as an Outstanding Administrator by Jackson State University. Dr. Cheeks is a former school administrator and now the director of the JPS Student Support Services Office. She was named an Outstanding Administrator by Tougaloo College.

MACTE is an affiliate of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Its members represent Mississippi's accredited colleges and universities engaged in teacher preparation. MACTE seeks to support and enhance all aspects of education in Mississippi. The Excellence in Education recognition is a rewarding experience for educators. Each of the affiliated state institutions of higher learning selected one recipient for each award. Awards were presented for Outstanding Intern, Educator, and Administrator.
