Fifth Armed Division Drill team in the State
On 14 Dec 2019, the Drill team competed in 6th Bde MS State drill meet held at Brandon High school. Out of the 51 programs in the state 19 qualified for this events and FHHS ‘Iron Patriots’ Armed division earned the ranking of 5th best in the state for 2019-2020.
The armed division category is made up of Squad and Platoon regulation routines. You also have armed Exhibition and Inspection competitions. The program teams must participate in all areas to be eligible for consideration of the overall titles. FHHS JROTC aka Iron Patriots won 5th place in Inspection, 5th place Squad, 4th place Platoon regulation, 2nd place Exhibition equaling 5th place overall in the Armed Division. Sixteen out of twenty-two members of the team hard work, sacrifice, dedication and attention to details paid off with this recognition.
Commanders for each routine are Cadet Command Sergeant Major Micah Lee in Exhibition and Platoon, Cadet Captain Jamison Terry in Inspection and Cadet Colonel Travis Adams in Squad. The drill team coach is Retired Sergeant First Class Edward McDonald and exhibition routine choreographer retired Lieutenant Colonel Linda Prowell. The community volunteer color guard mentor is former Cadet Command Sergeant Major Brian Westmoreland. Iron Patriots entire team members are Cadet Devonte Donald, Cadet Cameron Torns, Cadet Private Navia Jones, Cadet Corporal Makiel Fleming, Cadet Corporal Zavion Thompson, Cadet Sergeant E’Jacia Adams, Cadet Sergeant Keandria Brown, Cadet First Sergeant Tyler Gholar, Cadet Master Sergeant Allen Duncan, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Caleb Rhodes, Captain Adrianna Courtney, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Talisha Brown and Lieutenant Colonel Treasure Hill. Their onsite manager is Cadet Private Jonterrence Hanna.
Other areas of competition was in unarmed division and color guard. The unarmed division like armed contained a squad regulation, platoon regulation, inspection and exhibition routine. Cadets that participated in this divisional competition are Cadet Makayla Williams, Cadet Private Yemaya Pickett, Cadet Private Joselyn Campbell, Cadet Sergeant Makayla Latham, Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Angel Hill and Cadet Captain Christine Wooten.
