Greetings, HORNET Nation Parents and Scholars!

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year.

Parents, are you ready? Scholars, are you excited and prepared? I hope that you are as enthused as I am to begin this wonderful school year. I am elated to have the opportunity to formally introduce myself to you.

My name is Dr. Naomi Hulitt- Welch. I am a very proud native of Jackson, MS, and I am so happy to be home! Over the past 6 years I have served as the Health and Human Services (HHS) Academy Principal at Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, MS. My previous educational experiences include working for the Mississippi Department of Education (MOE) and teaching assignments in Yazoo City, MS, Hinds County, MS, and Jackson, MS.

Parents, I want you to know that we cannot do this work without you. Dare I say that you are our Most Valuable Partner (MVP). Parents we need you! This year we will be very intentional about making you feel I ike you are a part of our team because you are.

Scholars, summer has come to a close, but that does not mean that the excitement stops. We will be intentional with helping you THRIVE and succeed all while making your time at school enjoyable for you.

In any successful environment rules and regulations must be adhered to, to ensure success. Structure, procedures, and processes are key to having an abundance of success. We will have structure, procedures, and processes to ensure all scholars ENJOY a safe, secure, and successful environment.

Our school motto is as follows: Ready to work, preparing to learn, and striving to move to the next level. Our theme is: Marvel at our Success! We are serious about giving your children and our scholars the proper tools for success. Our mission and vision statements are directly aligned with the Jackson Public School District and are as follows: Mission- At Peeples Middle School, we develop scholars through world-class learning experiences to attain an exceptional knowledge base, critical and relevant skill sets, and the necessary dispositions for great success. Vision- At Peeples Middle School, we prepare scholars to achieve globally, to contribute locally, and to be fulfilled individually.

The Jackson Public School District and Peeples Middle School have core values of: the importance of equity, excellence, growth mindset, relationships, relevance, and a positive and respectful culture. Parents and scholars, I believe that consistency is more important than perfection. I pledge to you to be consistent in my approach, utilize the Jackson Public School District handbook to inform and enforce, remain dedicated to your child's absolute highest success, and intentionally being open to receive any help that you will provide to assist us in this great endeavor.
