Jackson Public Schools' Office of Partners in Education celebrated its school adopters at the 2023-2024 Highlight Awards Ceremony inside the Jackson Convention Complex on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Themed, "Together We Grow: Strong Roots, Changing Seasons," school adopters and other community partners attended and received words of gratitude and accolades recognizing their continued commitment to Jackson Public Schools.
Each partner has supported the District in many ways, including funding, mentorship, and volunteerism.
Dr. Rickey Thigpen, CEO and President of Visit Jackson, hosted the awards program that featured music and theatrical performances, and recognitions.
Thea Faulkner, Director of Partners in Education, said the sacrifices of others have made a huge impact on JPS. She stated, “There’s an African proverb that teaches us, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.’ We are so thankful for the resilience, endurance, and victories that we have experienced collectively. Let’s celebrate!”
Superintendent, Dr. Errick Greene expressed his gratitude for everyone's work inside Jackson Public Schools.
"Your support has been a key factor in our success and instrumental in fostering an environment where our scholars can thrive," Greene said. "Your involvement has not only strengthened the bonds between our schools and the community, but also enhanced the educational experience of our scholars."
