The Board of Trustees of Jackson Public Schools approved the 2018–2019 District Calendar at its March 20, 2018, regular meeting. A calendar committee of administrators, school employees, and parents reviewed calendar options. The committee developed the calendar to align with the District’s focus on improving student achievement and providing quality professional development.
The first day of school for teachers is August 6 and for students is August 8. High school graduation ceremonies are scheduled for May 28 and 29, 2019, to ensure students get the 180 days of instruction required by the state. This calendar also gives the District the flexibility to add more instructional time if needed.
