JPS Class of 2024 Receives $43M in Total Scholarship Offers

May 30, 2024 - Did you know the Jackson Public Schools' graduating Class of 2024 received $43,659,224 in scholarship offers? We graduated 1,147 graduates from seven high schools, including 278 scholars who received academic endorsements.

Each of the 278 scholars has demonstrated exceptional academic performance by maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher. They have also successfully completed one Advanced Placement course and exam, one International Baccalaureate course and exam, or one dual credit course.  
 
70 scholars earned the more academically rigorous diploma endorsement, called the Distinguished Academic Endorsement. It means each scholar earned the following:
  • Earned 28 credits
  • Scored at least 18 on the ACT English section
  • Scored at least 22 on the ACT Math section
  • Achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average
  • Successfully completed one Advanced Placement course and AP exam, one International Baccalaureate course, and exam, or one dual credit course
  • Earned at least a B in the advanced course
 
Students who earn an academic or distinguished academic diploma endorsement from a public high school will be accepted into any of the state’s public universities.
Twenty-one scholars have earned the prestigious Career and Technical Education Endorsement (CTE). This means that each of these graduates earned 26 credits, including four credits from the CTE program, but has also completed a dual credit course and a work-based learning experience or earned a national credit.
 
Four scholars were Biliteracy Seal Recipients, which awards scholars with proficiency in one or more world languages, and 12 seniors scored 30 or higher on the ACT Test. 
 
Lastly, 22 JPS scholars received their high school diplomas and graduated with their associate degrees as a part of the JPS-Tougaloo Early College High School. 
 
We are also excited to share that the Class of 2024 had two Gates Scholarship Recipients, Jerry Palmer and Camilah Cousin. Additionally, Keisa Currie-Ball, Forest Hill High School, is a 2024 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship recipient (only one of two awardees from Mississippi). Each student will receive up to $40,000 in paid tuition to attend the college of their choice and a paid internship offer at Amazon after their freshman year of college to gain hands-on, practical work experience with mentorship from Amazon leaders.
