Jackson Public School All Star Golf Tournament
May 17, 2023, is a memorable date for several Jackson Public School scholar-athletes. This is the date of the first annual All-Star Golf tournament held at Pete Brown Golf Course, 3200 W Woodrow Wilson Ave.
This tournament had two components: a skills challenge and a stroke-play match. All participants went through a short game (chipping & pitching) assessment, a putting assessment and a driving range assessment. The top 9 participants went on to the stroke play match with the top three earning a spot on the First ever JPS All-Star Golf team.

All levels of the tournament were a challenge to these novice golfers with an experience level of 4 months to 5 years. The top three golfers earned a sponsored slot in the Jackson Mayoral Cup tournament, May 19, 2023, the recognition of being the first JPS ALL-Star golf team, various golf apparel, lessons from a certified PGA Professional, rounds of golf and many other things.
The 2023 Jackson Public School All-Star Golf team is Khalea Johnson of Forest Hill, Lessie Davis of Wingfield and Eric Palmer of Forest Hill High School. The three alternates are: Janessa Davis of Wingfield High, Jamarus Bennett of Murray High and Christopher Johnson of Forest Hill High.
