Powell Principal Terrance Hill Joins JSU's Professional Council to Champion Educational Excellence

Principal Terrance Hill of Powell Middle School has been appointed to Jackson State University’s Professional Council. This prestigious council, composed of students, alumni, and education professionals, advocates for excellence in education and provides valuable professional development for educators. Meeting quarterly, its membership collaborates on resources, training, and networking opportunities that benefit the entire educational community.

"I am truly honored and excited to join Jackson State University’s Professional Council as a representative of the College of Education and Human Development,” said Principal Hill. "This role offers an invaluable opportunity to contribute to the growth and advancement of our educational community, bringing fresh perspectives to enhance the experiences of both educators and scholars. Being part of this council allows me to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, advocate for positive change, and further support our mission to nurture the next generation of educators."

Hill was recently appointed to serve as principal on the middle school level after serving for years as principal of Green Elementary School. His commitment to student academic performance contributed to the school earning an A rating in 2023. He previously led Pecan Park Elementary to an A rating in 2019. Over the course of his career, Hill was recognized with multiple awards for excellence in education, including as a Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the Superintendent's Golden Apple Award. Additionally, Jackson State named him a Top 40 Under 40 for his contributions in the field of education. Hill holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education from Jackson State University and additional advanced degrees in education from Mississippi College and William Carey University.
