Ten Bailey APAC Middle School scholars are currently participating in New Stage Theatre’s Broadway Jr. Theatre Camp.
The four-week intensive for rising 6th - 12th graders serves as an upbeat, musical theatre experience for first-timers and long-time theatre students. From now until July 17, 2022, students are being introduced to all the elements of theatre production in daily classes taught by seasoned theatre veterans, including instruction in acting, improvisation, stage movement, musical theatre, dance, voice and diction, and auditioning.
Student participants will showcase their developed skills on New Stage’s main stage with Children of Eden, Jr. - a fully-produced, multi-performance Broadway Junior musical. Four performances will take place July 14-16 at 7 pm and July 17 at 2 pm.
New Stage Theatre was chartered as a nonprofit organization in 1965 and produced its initial season in the winter and spring of 1966. Founded by Jane Reid Petty and seven other charter board members, with the assistance of the American National Theatre Academy and Actors’ Equity Association, the theatre has been dedicated to professional excellence in the dramatic arts since its inception. The New Stage Theatre Arts in Education department strives to bring professional, progressive acting instruction to youth throughout Mississippi with its summer camps, yearlong acting classes, and touring workshops.
