JPS hosted the final in a series of ribbon-cutting ceremonies at Green Elementary School on May 3rd. The event was held to celebrate the completion of several projects at the school totaling nearly $1 million, including the replacement of 16,000 square feet of carpet with vinyl flooring, restroom renovations, front entry improvements, exterior doors, and a playground canopy installation.

“Students at Green Elementary can now be in a space where they feel safe, valued, and respected,” said Assistant Superintendent Dionne Woody. “When the environment looks good and feels good, students will perform better academically.”

I am grateful for where we are and where we’re going,” said Board Secretary Dr. Robbie Luckett. “We are truly grateful to the citizens of Jackson who voted for this bond issue and entrusted us to ensure these renovations were completed.”

These renovations are the result of the $65 million bond passed by taxpayers in 2018.
