The 2021 JPS School Board is the recipient of the MSBA Board of Merit Award issued by the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA).

To qualify as a “Board of Merit”, the Board of Trustees as a whole must have earned 100 or more MSBA-approved training hours in the 2020-2021 school year. School Board Vice President Barbara Hilliard was there to accept the award on the board’s behalf at MSBA’s annual Fall Leadership Conference on November 15, 2021.

The Jackson Public School District is governed by the Board of Trustees, a dedicated panel representing a cross-section of the city of Jackson. Each member is appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council to represent the schools in each of the city's seven wards. Congratulations to the JPS School Board on their latest achievement!
