JPS Appoints New Chief Operations Officer and Chief Academic Officer

Jackson Public Schools has appointed Joseph William Albright as our new Chief Operations Officer and José A. Salgado as our Chief Academic Officer.
Meet Our New Executive Administrators
Dr. José A. Salgado, Chief Academic Officer
Dr. José Salgado is a distinguished education professional with a strong background in leadership. He served most recently as the Chief Academic Officer of the Schenectady City School District in New York. His responsibilities included managing academic content, creating the vision for instruction and curriculum, developing structures to support new initiatives, and planning culturally responsive teaching models. He has directed instructional leaders and academic programs in both private and public settings.
Dr. Salgado holds a Doctor of Education degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, a Master of Education from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, La Ceiba, Honduras.
As the JPS CAO, Dr. Salgado will oversee the offices of Teaching and Learning and Exceptional Education and will assist the District in achieving its key goals by setting strategic vision in all areas related to innovative classroom instruction and joyful learning environments.
Joseph William Albright, Chief Operations Officer
Joseph Albright is a strategic leader and management executive with in-depth leadership experience and a deep-rooted U.S. Army background. Before coming to JPS, he served nearly eight years as the vice president for technical services at Sodexo, Inc. North America Schools Segment. His responsibilities included establishing standard procedures for the technical delivery of solutions, safety oversight for operations, and management development. Innovations he made during his time serving in various leadership roles in the U.S. Army led to millions of dollars in cost savings in the areas he managed.
Albright holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. Additionally, he has completed 36 hours of post-graduate work in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
Albright will lead the District’s core operations departments including Facilities and Operations, Child Nutrition, Property Accounting, Campus Enforcement, Information Technology, and Transportation.
