The Hardy Middle School Academy of Career Exploration hosted a Parent Engagement Workshop to share information with parents that pertains to their children's success at school. The school and its community partners provided workshops on a range of topics. School instructional leaders explained standards for state testing, scheduling parent-teacher conferences and more. Partners like Jackson State University helped parents of sixth-grade students enroll them in the Literacy Achievement Bonanza, an enrichment day camp held during spring break. Tools for Life, a relationship-building solution used in schools across the District, conducted a session covering problem-solving and other positive behavior strategies. The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi gave out healthy food samples and distributed materials about health and wellness to attendees. Free health screenings were offered through Choices for Children and Families. Parents were able to pick up their students' progress reports. The school also sent home "Every Day Counts" T-shirts with parents of students who met attendance goals for the quarter.
Assistant Principal Dr. Samecia Stokes coordinated this engagement opportunity for Hardy Middle School parents.
