Lanier Alum Recognized by Mississippi State Board of Architecture

The Mississippi State Board of Architecture recognized Lanier High School alum Akili J. Kelly at its New Licensee Recognition ceremony held September 19. He was among 13 architects, four landscape architects, and one certified interior designer honored at the event.

Kelly is a construction project manager for the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration in the Bureau of Building. He began his career with M3A Architecture, PLLC. He worked there for three years before being hired as a senior planner in the City of Jackson Planning and Development Department. He is also co-owner of TinyJXN and The Kelly Factory.

The 2001 Lanier grad received a Bachelor of Architecture from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went on to complete a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from Jackson State University.

Kelly lives in Jackson with his wife, Ashley, and their 10-month-old daughter, Alex.
