March 21, 2025

Jackson Public Schools

As the Jackson Public Schools (JPS) community continues to grow and evolve, we remain committed to providing all scholars with the highest-quality educational experience. To prevent overcrowding and ensure that classroom sizes align with state guidelines for student-teacher ratios, the Jackson Public School District will be adjusting school boundaries for the 2025-2026 school year.

These changes are necessary to balance enrollment across our schools, ensuring that every scholar has access to the resources, support, and instructional time needed for academic success. We understand that school assignments are important to our families, and we want to assure you that these adjustments are being made with careful consideration of student needs, neighborhood communities, and school capacities. Presently, our data and enrollment teams are evaluating boundaries for the following schools:

  • Bates Elementary
  • Casey Elementary
  • Green Elementary
  • Key Elementary
  • McLeod Elementary
  • North Jackson Elementary
  • Oak Forest Elementary
  • Pecan Park Elementary
  • Shirley Elementary
  • Spann Elementary
  • Timberlawn Elementary
  • Bailey APAC Middle
  • Blackburn Middle
  • Kirksey Middle
  • Peeples Middle
  • Powell Middle
  • Lanier Jr. Sr. High

Families directly impacted by these changes will receive official direct notification with details about their scholar’s school assignment before the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, we are taking proactive steps to ensure that our schools are fully staffed with high-quality educators and support personnel to facilitate a smooth transition.

Regardless of which school a child attends, our commitment to excellence remains the same. Every JPS scholar will continue to receive a safe, nurturing, and enriching learning environment designed to foster success. Our educators, administrators, and staff are dedicated to making this transition seamless while keeping student achievement and well-being at the forefront of every decision.
