Black History Represented Through The Arts
Black History Represented Through The Arts
March 1, 2024
Pecan Park and Johnson Elementary produced a black history month celebration on March 1. The theme was: “African Americans and the Arts”. Scholars expressed what they’ve learned about black history through music, poetry, drama, and dance.
The audience learned interesting facts about inventions by Black inventors, honored history-making individuals such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and Barack Obama, and was hyped up by Black History Month-themed raps and songs.
Scholars and staff were also invited to dress up in traditional Black History attire or in black clothing to represent the importance of this month.
The JES/PPES choir performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.
Pre-K – 2nd grade scholars performed a song about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Johnson Jubilant Diamonds mentoring group performed a dance.
