Earlier this month, Entergy Nuclear donated $10,000 to North Jackson Elementary School as an initial step in its newest role as the school’s community adopter.
“What an amazing way to launch this important partnership,” said Thea Faulkner, director of JPS Partners in Education. “We are pleased to partner with Entergy and Entergy Nuclear.” North Jackson Elementary Principal Jocelyn Smith also expressed her gratitude for Entergy Nuclear’s support. "North Jackson is extremely grateful for the generous donation from Entergy; we are so excited about the partnership. This donation will help us continue to implement programs that will help lead our scholars to success."
In addition to the financial donation, representatives from each organization met to plan additional engagement for the 2022-2023 school year, including a back-to-school supply drive, school beautification projects, and mentoring/tutoring initiatives.
“We are looking forward to collaborating with the staff and students at North Jackson Elementary,” said Entergy Chief Nuclear Officer Chris Bakken. "It's an excellent opportunity to strengthen and support the school's programs and curriculum and give back through on-site support, mentorship, grants, and other engagement. I know our team members are enthusiastic about fostering a sense of personal involvement and interactions with the students and faculty.”
