Jackson Public Schools Welcomes Cynthia Thompson to School Board
November 16, 2020
Cynthia Thompson |
Jackson Public Schools is pleased to announce the addition of Cynthia Thompson to the School Board. She fills the vacancy in Ward 6, bringing the Board to a full slate of officers with one representative serving from each of the city's seven wards. Thompson was sworn in by Board President Mrs. Letitia S. Johnson Thursday afternoon at JPS Central Office headquarters.
Thompson actively serves on the PTAs and Booster clubs of multiple schools in JPS. She and her husband Emon Thompson have seven children. They include four JPS graduates, two from Wingfield, and two more from Forest Hill. Two of her children are currently enrolled in JPS schools—a senior at Wingfield and a sophomore in the Early College High School program at Tougaloo.
Thompson and her husband are entrepreneurs and community leaders. In addition to her independent Mary Kay beauty consulting business, Thompson and her husband operate Thompson Technologies, a computer repair and information technology services company. They seek to improve their areas through their work within the city of Jackson and their involvement in the Brookleigh Homeowners Association and the Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods.
A five-year veteran volunteer organizer for the national health movement GirlTrek, Thompson currently serves on the organization's National Advisory Council. Her passion for fitness and empowering others extends to a fitness ministry at her church, Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Faith Church of Jackson. There, she serves as the Assistant Communication Director and the coordinator of the finance ministry.
The next School Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17.
