Peeples Middle School honored America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for others. In addition to honoring all veterans, the impetus of the school celebration was to recognize five, school personnel that are veterans with a special ceremony held in their honor. The culminating activity was punctuated with students writing "Thank You" cards after taking class pictures with students holding the American flag. "Thank You" cards were delivered for distribution to veterans at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Educational opportunities aimed at learning about or honoring those who have served or who are serving in the military were infused in history lessons.
