December 20, 2024 – Christmas came early for Casey Elementary as the Greater Eastover Neighborhood Foundation donated $11,000 to the school on Wednesday, December 18. The presentation ceremony took place at Casey Elementary, located at 2101 Lake Circle in Jackson, and marked a significant investment in the school’s commitment to arts education.

The donation will fund the purchase and installation of new stage curtains, enhancing theatrical performances for Casey’s scholars. "This generous gift will make a lasting difference in the lives of our students," said Casey Elementary Principal Vanessa Dean. "It’s more than just curtains; it’s about providing a platform for our scholars to shine and express their creativity." This contribution reflects the foundation’s strong belief in the transformative power of arts education and its ability to enrich students’ educational experiences.

Special guests in attendance included Dana Robertson from the Greater Eastover Neighborhood Foundation, Dr. Kathleen Grigsby, and Conrad Andrews of Davaine Lighting. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between the community and Casey Elementary to support the arts and foster creativity among students.

Casey Elementary is one of eight Model Whole Schools in Mississippi. Through the Mississippi Whole Schools program, supported by the Mississippi Arts Commission, Casey integrates the arts into core subjects. This approach encourages active learning, critical thinking, and educational success for its students.

The donation from the Greater Eastover Neighborhood Foundation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance arts education at Casey Elementary. The new stage curtains will serve as a lasting symbol of the community’s dedication to empowering young scholars to express their talents and creativity.
