    May 22, 2020 – Northwest students are to read the required grade level book plus at least four additional books, for a total of five books over the Summer, and complete a log for each.   • JPS School Board Approves 2020-2021 District Calendar

    February 28, 2020 - The 2020-2021 JPS District Calendar has been approved by the Board of Trustees and is available for your planning purposes. The first day for students is Monday, August 10.   • Northwest Teacher Featured in WJT's "Cool Schools"

    January 2020 - 7th grade Math teacher and girls’ basketball coach, Ms. Ashli Sutton, was featured in WJTV’s “Cool Schools” segment on January 23, 2020. During her first year of teaching, Ms. Sutton’s students ranked number one in the district on state assessments, and seventh in the state. This year the girls’ basketball team have had an undefeated season. Way to go Ms. Sutton!

  • Speech and Debate tournament at Murrah High School

    January 12, 2020 - Congratulations go to members of the NW Speech and debate team for their performance at the debate tournament hosted by Murrah High School on January 12th. Titus Greer and Joshua Bennett were recognized as quarterfinalists in the tournament, and Kiestean Smith and Malcolm Butler were semifinalists! Job well done, Wolverines!

  • JPS Institutes Clear Bag Policy at Athletic Events

    January 2020 - Jackson Public Schools will implement clear bag procedures at sporting events beginning January 6, 2020. The guidelines limit the size and type of bags that may be brought into athletic facilities to provide a safer environment for the public. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.   • 2019 JPS Reading Fair

    November 18, 2019 - The 2019 Secondary Reading Fair for grades 6–12 was held on November 15th at Cardozo Middle School. The purpose of the competition is to provide students in grades K-12 the opportunity to share their favorite book through a storyboard display.
