ATLAS Sheltered Instruction Program
Serving Middle & High School English Learners
The ATLAS (Academic Transition and Language Acquisition Support) Program is a district initiative that supports middle and high school English Learners (ELs) who are newcomers or have limited English proficiency. The program is located at Forest Hill High School and Peeples Middle School.
What is ATLAS?
ATLAS uses a Sheltered Instruction model that helps EL students build English skills while learning grade-level content. Classes are taught in English using strategies that make lessons clear and engaging for multilingual learners. Teachers are trained in both content and language instruction.
