Jackson Public Schools

We are proud to share that Stephanie Harris-Martin, executive director of transportation for Jackson Public Schools, was elected to the Board of the Mississippi Association of Pupil Transportation (MAPT) on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Mrs. Harris-Martin has served Jackson Public Schools for over 30 years and is now in her third year as executive director of transportation. Under her leadership, the District has achieved several key milestones, including:
- Launch of electric school buses,
- Implementation of upgraded routing systems across the bus fleet, including tablets and sign-on/sign-off scanners for scholars, to be introduced this upcoming school year
- Introduction of mobile apps for real-time bus tracking, improving communication and safety for both families and staff
- Upgrades to the district’s bus and operational vehicle fleets
- Launch of ongoing professional development programs for transportation staff and drivers
- Expansion of transit services to better support scholar arrival and dismissal times
- Promotion of literacy by encouraging drivers to participate in Read Across America Week
- Formation of a Transportation Task Force, giving drivers and attendants a voice in departmental improvements
- Reinstatement of the district’s Accident Review Committee
