Jackson Public Schools has been selected as one of only 24 school districts nationwide to join the inaugural Social Mobility Leadership Network (SMLN), a new three-year initiative led by the Aspen Institute and the College Board.
The network brings together district leaders from across the country to expand access to high quality coursework and opportunities that support long-term student success. Collectively, participating districts will work toward reaching more than one million students nationwide.
"This recognition reflects our commitment to ensuring every scholar has access to the opportunities, experiences and support needed to thrive," said JPS Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene. "We are honored to join this national network and collaborate with other districts that are working to remove barriers and create stronger pathways to college, careers and lifelong success."
As a member of the inaugural cohort, JPS will collaborate with peer districts to identify and share strategies that increase access to rigorous academic pathways, strengthen college and career readiness, and advance social mobility through education.
The selection places Jackson Public Schools among a distinguished group of districts chosen to help shape the future of the national network. Over the next three years, participating districts will engage in leadership development, learning opportunities and collaborative problem-solving focused on improving outcomes for students.
The Social Mobility Leadership Network is led by the Aspen Institute's Education & Society Program in partnership with the College Board. The initiative supports school systems committed to ensuring students have access to the coursework, resources and opportunities needed to succeed after high school.
The recognition reflects Jackson Public Schools' continued focus on expanding opportunities for scholars and preparing them for success in college, careers and life.
