
During Women’s History Month, Jackson Public Schools proudly honors the life and legacy of Alice Harden (November 19, 1940 – February 6, 2012), a devoted public servant and champion for education, equity, and the people of Mississippi.
Senator Harden served with distinction in the Mississippi Legislature, including her tenure in the Mississippi State Senate, where she represented her Jackson-based district with passion and purpose. Throughout her legislative career, she was widely respected for her unwavering advocacy for public education, working families, healthcare access, and economic opportunity.
Her accomplishments include:
