April 30, 2019 – Captain Barrington Irving, a motivational speaker and aviator, shared his powerful story to inspire parents at the JPS Parent and Family Engagement Conference in April.
April 18, 2019 – JPS Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene proposed and the Board unanimously approved the restructure plan, which becomes effective July 1, 2019.
April 17, 2019 – Jackson Public Schools announced Dr. Kathleen Grigsby and Mrs. Dionne Woody have been appointed to serve as Elementary Assistant Superintendents in the 2019-2020 school year.
March 27, 2019 – Four JPS schools were recognized with Governor's Awards for outstanding partnerships and another nine received PREPS Value-Added Awards for academic achievement.
The last day of school for JPS students is Friday, May 24. It will be a 60% school day. Early dismissal times are as follows:
- Elementary Schools, 12 p.m.
- Middle Schools, 12:30 p.m.
- High Schools, 1:30 p.m.
7 a.m. Dropoff for car riders and bus riders.
7:30 a.m. Breakfast closes.
7:40 a.m. Tardy bell sounds.
2:15 p.m. School dismissed.
Early dismissal: 12 p.m. as specified in District Calendar.
