Mrs. Champion is an alumni of Mississippi College, where she received her Bachelor's of Elementary Education. She began her career in 1993, teaching at Southwest Academy. From there, she has taught in schools that range from Utica-Mixon Elementary School, St. Mary's Catholic School, and Wilkins Elementary. She has spent 22 years teaching at Wilkins, until she moved to Van Winkle in the 2021 school year. Her years of experience total to 27 years. She states "My goal is to have the most awesome Pre-K kids in the State of Mississippi! Really, my goals are to have children who love to come to school and learn something new everyday. They are ready to take chances on whatever comes their way. They have the skills necessary to be successful academically as well as socially and emotionally. I believe in teaching the whole child, not just parts." She is currently in the process of earning her National Board Certification in Early Childhood Generalist. After she receives her Board Certification, she would like to go back to school for her Masters in Early Childhood Education. She states, "I love what I do and am excited to come to school each day (even if I am tired). The children make it all worth it in the end when they say "I did it!" Those are the words I love to hear."
