Yasontas Burton

Yasontas Burton is a proud product of Jackson Public Schools, who graduated from Provine High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in Early Childhood Education, her master’s degree from Mississippi College in Elementary Education and her specialist’s degree from Mississippi College in Educational Leadership. Ms. Burton has served 25 years in education. Eighteen of those years have been with Jackson Public Schools. Ms. Burton has served as a kindergarten teacher, a 1st grade teacher, a District Literacy Coach, and a  District Interventionist.  She has also served as Assistant Principal for 2 years at Johnson Elementary.  Ms. Burton is also the loving mother of 2 daughters, Sydnie and Dylian.

Dr. Nicol Sanders-Hemphill

Dr. Hemphill began her teaching career at John Hopkins Elementary School 20 years ago. She also attended John Hopkins as a student in all of her elementary years. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Jackson State University. She also received her Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Jackson State University. She is a proud graduate and product of Jackson Public Schools. Dr. Hemphill has a vested interest in John Hopkins and the community it serves.
