    Tougaloo College Educational Talent Search

The Educational Talent Search Program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling as well as afterschool tutorials (October-April) to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to complete their postsecondary education.   The Educational Talent Search Program provides services to participants from the following target schools in JPS:  Blackburn Middle, Northwest Jackson Middle, Forest Hill High, Jim Hill High, and Murrah High.  They also serve: Holmes County Central High, Leake County High, Canton High, and Nichols Middle.  The program publicizes the availability of financial aid and assists participants with the postsecondary application process. The Educational Talent Search Program also encourages persons who have not completed educational programs at the secondary or postsecondary level to enter or reenter and complete postsecondary education. The goal of The Educational Talent Search Program is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.

For additional information, please contact Dr. Valvia Wilson, Director of Federal TRiO Programs at vwilson@tougaloo.edu or Mrs. Yolanda Anderson, Contact Person-Northwest Jackson Middle School at yoanderson@jpsms.org.
