I have been an educator for 14 years.  Prior to serving as the IB PYP coordinator, I taught first and second grade in Louisiana and Mississippi.  I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology-Anthroplogy from Millsaps College and a master of arts in teaching from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.  In 2011, I was recognized as a Metro Teacher of the Year honoree for my accomplishments in the classroom.  My professional interests include teaching through inquiry, using a wide variety of literature resources to teach reading, and teaching phonics.
