Ms. Tantaneshia Houston


Tantaneshia Houston joined Jackson Public School District in 2014, following seven years of service within the Louisville Municipal School District. Her career began at Philadelphia Elementary School in Philadelphia, MS, where she taught 2nd  grade for one year and 4th grade for four years before relocating and being named an assistant principal of Noxapater Attendance Center in Noxapater, MS.  Within the Louisville Municipal District, she served as an Assistant Principal for Fair Elementary School and Eiland Middle School.


Ms. Houston grew up in Philadelphia and attended school in the Philadelphia Public School District, graduating from Philadelphia High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn State University in Elementary Education as well as a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Houston also earned an Educational Specialist from the College of Education from Mississippi State University in 2005. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree from Belhaven University in Educational Leadership.


Ms. Houston views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Sykes Elementary.


During her free time, Ms. Houston enjoys decorating, traveling, and spending time with family and her sorority sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
