Kennith Green, Principal
Mr. Kennieth Green has been an administrator with the Jackson Public Schools for the past 10 years. Mr. Kennieth Green graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1995. He graduated from Jackson State University in 1999, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Mr. Green also earned a Master’s of Science in Biology from Jackson State University in 2002. He taught in Canton Public School District and Holmes Community College, as he earned a Specialist’s in Educational Leadership from University of Southern Mississippi in 2005.
Mr. Green began his administrative career at Jim Hill High School, where he served as the 10th grade Assistant Principal from 2006-2013. He was the principal at Murrah High School since the spring of 2014 and enjoyed every aspect of the job. He considers his current position a "dream" job and looks forward to future challenges and continuing great success in the realm of academics and athletics that has been established as the expectation for Cardozo Middle School.
Mr. Green is deeply committed to improving academic achievement and lifelong learning skills for all students at Cardozo Middle School. Mr. Green is married to his wife Aarolyn and has three wonderful children, Kennieth Green II, Kennedy Green, and Kendall Olivia-Rose Green. In his spare time, Mr. Green enjoys fishing, working in the yard, and spending time with his family.
Mr Green is ready for an exciting and challenging year. Mr Green is ready to begin this year with a renewed spirit and commitment to prepare the students to become successful and productive in their quest for rigorous, engaging, and quality education.
Hysten Trent, Assistant Principal
Mr. Trent Hysten has been an administrator within the Jackson Public School District for the last two years. Mr. Hysten graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in Topeka, Kansas in 1996. He went on to attend Jackson State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Upon graduation, he began coaching and teaching. In December 2010, he completed his coursework and obtained a Master of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Jackson State University. He has been an instructor in the Jackson Public School District for 13 years. During his tenure, he earned a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College in 2012. Mr. Hysten was an integral part of the inaugural staff here at Cardozo Middle School where he taught Physical Education and coached the basketball team to back to back championships. He also served as coach of the track team for the first four years of Cardozo’s existence. As you can see, Mr. Hysten has a passion for education and for Cardozo Middle School. He believes that all children can learn but each child learns in different ways and rates. Mr. Hysten is fully committed to foster teamwork as the ultimate way for Cardozo Middle School to successfully reach the goal of helping each child attain his or her full potential.
