Candice Beasley

Ms. Candice Beasley is an educator of nineteen years and currently serves as principal of Cardozo Middle School. She has been an employee of Jackson Public Schools for nine years. Her educational experience began in Moss Point at Kreole Elementary as a fifth-grade science teacher. She would later go on to serve as a math teacher and bus driver at Gulfport High School, Crystal Springs Middle School, and Crystal Springs High School. She has also been employed with Hazlehurst School District at Hazlehurst Middle School as a math instructional coach and later moved to JPS as a math interventionist at Brinkley Middle School and Rowan Middle School. Ms. Beasley also served at Siwell Middle School and Cardozo Middle School as an assistant principal, and Boyd Elementary School as principal.

 

Ms. Beasley is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, but completed her high school studies at Harrison Central High School in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math and science, and she earned a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. She also earned a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Jackson State University.  Ms. Beasley has also been trained in Leadership through NISL (National Institute of School Leadership).

 

Ms. Beasley has a passion for teaching and learning. She believes that children are entitled to the best education professionals have to offer including providing the proper support for each child. Every child has a right to have an opportunity to be successful in life and to be competitive to earn the best jobs available.

Mr. Tracie Nave

I am Mr. Tracie Nave; I am entering my 4th year in Jackson Public School District as an assistant principal. This is my 21st year in education, 9 as an assistant principal in Texas and 12 as a Math and Science teacher. Currently, I serve as the 8th grade assistant principal. I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and I earned my Masters from Prairie View A & M University in TX. I look forward to working with you and your scholars this school year. It is a pleasure to serve the community of South Jackson in my role as an assistant principal.

Ms. Erika Purnell-January

Hello Everyone! I’m so proud to be a member of the Husky Nation. I am a proud graduate of Robert M. Callaway High School. I taught Math, Science, and Algebra 1 in middle school for ten years in Vicksburg Warren School District and Algebra 1 in Jackson Public Schools. During my teaching tenure in Algebra 1 my passing rate for state testing was 98%-100% each year. I have completed seven years in administration three years as Head Principal of Madison High School, Madison Middle School, and Madison Alternative School in Tallulah, La. During my Principalship at Madison High School in Tallulah, La we were successful in receiving SACS Accreditation.

I received training in National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) in all three courses in 2018. I have a B.S. degree from Alcorn State University. I later received a Master of Science degree from Jackson State University and a Master of Education Degree from Mississippi College in Educational Leadership. I have one daughter. Again, I’m excited to be a Husky and thank you for having me! Go HUSKIES!

My Philosophy in Education is simple: Every scholar can reach their maximum potential and earn a high school diploma by engaging, inspiring, and being challenged academically to become globally competitive, technologically literate citizens, who will be college or career ready.
