Department Overview
The Office of Finance and Operations oversees a broad range of services that support Jackson Public Schools’ vision, mission, and goals. The Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) provides executive leadership and clear direction for all business services, finance, and operations departments.
Working closely with the Superintendent, the CFOO ensures that these departments collaborate to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments. This includes providing nutritious meals every day, coordinating safe and efficient student transportation, and maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
The Office also ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Additionally, the CFOO guides long-range financial planning, communicates economic forecasts effectively, and manages the development of fiscal policies, processes, and internal auditing procedures.
The Office of Finance and Operations includes the following divisions:
Assets and Property
Assets and Property manages tangible personal property in accordance with District policies and procedures, Mississippi statutes, and State Auditor rules governing property accountability and control.
Business Services
Business Services manages the district’s financial and operational functions, including accounting, payroll, budgeting, and procurement. Its mission is to support instructional programs across all schools while ensuring fiscal responsibility, legal compliance, and maximum value for taxpayer dollars spent.
Child Nutrition
The Jackson Public Schools Child Nutrition Department provides well-balanced, high-quality breakfasts, lunches, and suppers daily to ensure all scholars are healthy, energized, and ready to learn. Operating under USDA guidelines across all district schools, the department serves millions of nutritious meals annually to support student wellness and academic success.
Facilities Operations
Facilities and Operations inspects and maintains facilities, provides an on-going maintenance program to upgrade schools, and improves facilities maintenance. The department is composed of Construction, Carpentry, Climate Control, Custodial Services, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Plumbing, and Site Care.
School Support
The Office of School Support (Federal Programs) provides guidance in the use of supplemental educational resources, in accordance with federal guidelines, to enhance the utilization of programs that will prepare scholars to succeed in a global society.
Transportation
The primary goal of the JPS Transportation Department is to transport scholars safely to and from school each day. The department is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all scholars while riding school buses and ensuring that the highest standards are adhered to by those who utilize JPS transportation services.
