Dr. Shenetra Burse-Dawson
Dr. Shenetra Burse-Dawson serves as the lead giver of second chances at REAP (Re-Engaging in Education for All to Progress), a special program school that focuses on dropout prevention. Created from a desire to reignite the flame of education, Dr. Dawson has served as the lead educator of REAP since its inception. She believes her calling is to enact true change and awareness in the area of dropout prevention and ensure that her students "enter to learn and leave to achieve!"
Dr. Dawson began her career with JPS in 2002 at Jim Hill High School as a mathematics and science teacher. During her educational career, she has served as a teacher, interventionist, and coordinator of the JPS Career Academic Placement Program.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Dr. Dawson is a product of the Jackson Public School District. She is a graduate of Callaway High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from Tougaloo College and has completed three advanced degrees from Jackson State University- a Master of Science in teaching in mathematics, Educational Specialist in secondary education, and a Doctorate in educational administration and supervision. She has also completed coursework at Washington University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Virginia.
