Pecan Park Elementary is one of 33 elementary schools in the Jackson Public School District. It serves students in grades Pre-K-5. Pecan Park was completed in 1989 on the site of the former Whitfield Elementary School. The school was renamed after a request was made to change the name in an effort to distinguish itself from the Mississippi State Hospital. The name Pecan Park was selected because the residential community was called Pecan Park. The school recently celebrated its 25th year anniversary.
