JPS and Partners Honored for Outstanding School-Community Partnerships

Several Jackson Public Schools and their community partners were recognized during the 15th annual Governor’s Awards Luncheon hosted by the Mississippi Association of Partners in Education (MAPE) on March 1, 2017. The luncheon was part of activities planned for the Mississippi Education Partnership Conference, presented in collaboration with the Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools, Inc. (PREPS) and Mississippi Association of Middle Level Education.

"The Governor's Awards program is an opportunity to recognize outstanding partnerships and celebrate the positive impact they're making in public schools across Mississippi," said Phil Hardwick, MAPE president. "Since introducing the Governor's Awards 15 years ago, MAPE has collected a wealth of partnership success stories from all over the state that clearly demonstrate the connection between increased community involvement and improved student achievement."

MAPE awarded 18 school-community partnership programs that have produced outstanding results for students in Mississippi's public schools. Five of those awards went to programs operating in Jackson Public Schools. The Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools, Inc. presented its Value Added Awards to schools who exhibited exemplary growth based on test results from the 2015–2016 school year.

MAPE is a statewide network of educators and community partners committed to providing training and materials to help build local support for the success of all students.
