School Philosophy

Rowan Middle School is dedicated to providing all students with the opportunity to excel in each academic area. The administration, teachers, and staff of Rowan Middle School are focused on creating an educational environment in which students have the opportunity to routinely achieve above the norm. Parental involvement and support are recognized and embraced. School Programs

21st Century Community Learning Center

A 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) is a school-based community education center that keeps children safe during at-risk after school hours, on some Saturdays, and often in summer. These centers provide children academic enrichment, homework tutors, and a wide range of cultural, developmental, and recreational opportunities. In addition, lifelong learning activities are available for community members in a local school setting at many centers.

The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve will provide supplemental educational services to help improve the academic performance of students. The program will concentrate on helping teachers to identify and strengthen student weaknesses on critical local and state curriculum-based assessments. Based on what is taught in the classroom, The Learning Curve staff will reinforce the needs of each student.

Report will be provided to parents at regular intervals regarding student progress.

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their child's education.

The Learning Curve will focus on supporting students, parents, teachers, and schools in their efforts to assure that students perform well on state assessments and successfully move to the next level.

Instructors will observe student performance through class work and teacher-made tests. These tests will be directly correlated with state curriculum standards (MCT). The Learning Curve will provide students and parents with a report that demonstrates student progress.
