Of the more than 4,000 employees in the Jackson Public School District, a little over half of them are certified educators. Over 100 JPS teachers and counselors have achieved National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification.
A recently awarded $1.4 million grant will ensure JPS continues to enhance and promote the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers in high need subject areas.
Teacher coaches play an instrumental role in helping to develop new teachers and promote excellence in their fields. Coaches are responsible for maintaining exemplary classrooms, modeling best practices and providing leadership and support to colleagues.
Students, as well as adults, have a toll-free hotline where they can share information that could help keep their school safe. The number for the statewide Connections hotline is 1.888.827.4637. No one will ever ask users their names, specific locations, or the sources of their information.
