Teachers

Of the more than 4,000 employees in the Jackson Public School District, a little over half of them are certified educators. Over 100 JPS teachers and counselors have achieved National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification.

A recently awarded $1.4 million grant will ensure JPS continues to enhance and promote the recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers in high need subject areas.

Teacher coaches play an instrumental role in helping to develop new teachers and promote excellence in their fields. Coaches are responsible for maintaining exemplary classrooms, modeling best practices and providing leadership and support to colleagues.
