Clausell Elementary Featured as WJTV School of the Day
September 4, 2012

Clausell Elementary was the WJTV School of the Day for September 4, 2012.

Established in 1962, the school is named after Odell Clausell who was an educator in the Jackson Public School District from 1929-1952. The school serves 425 students in grades pre-K through five at its location just off Highway 80 in west Jackson. Clausell is a 2011 Title I Distinguished School. It is also the first elementary school in JPS to induct members into the National Elementary Honor Society and was designated as a Founding Chapter. Tawanda Nichols is the principal at Clausell where the faculty, staff, and students work together to ensure a positive learning environment through programs like Dog Paws, which rewards students for good behavior.
